Manuel López-Cano is staff surgeon at the Department of Surgery, Universitary Hospital Vall d’Hebrón, Barcelona and Head of the Abdominal Wall Surgery Unit.

He is Professor of Surgery at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. He holds a Ph.D. degree form the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona. He is member of the Spanish Association of Surgeons, board member of the Spanish Section of Abdominal Wall Surgery with coordinating function and journal editor at Cirurgia Española, member of the Catalonian Association of Surgeons, member of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery, member of the European Hernia Society and past section editor of the journal Hernia, member of the Advisory Board of Quality of the European Hernia Society, and member of multiple international guideline development groups.
